ZeeAppnea Report – explanation

The report is sent to the email used to submit the sleep recording.

The report defines the users risk of having sleep apnea. Keep in mind it is a screening tool and not meant to diagnose sleep apnea.  The report is generated using a proprietary algorithm that utilizes the questions answered in the App and the results of the breathing patterns generated in the recording.  Keep in mind that the App results have been compared to actual in lab sleep studies and this is how the correlations have been determined.

The categories that you will see in the report

No increased risk of having sleep apnea — this means that based on the questions answered and the recording provided, it appears that the user is not at an increased risk of having sleep apnea. But if symptoms are present suggestive of sleep apnea, medical advice should be sought to definitively rule out sleep apnea.

Mildly increased risk of having sleep apnea– this means that based on the questions answered and the recording provided, it appears that the user is at increased risk of having sleep apnea.  It is however unlikely that the user is at significant risk of having  moderate to severe sleep apnea, but only a physician can determine this and will require definitive testing to make this determination.

Moderately increased risk of having sleep apnea– this means that based on the questions answered and the recording provided, it appears that the user is at increased risk of having sleep apnea.  It is possible that the user is at significant risk of having  moderate to severe sleep apnea,  and the user is strongly urged to seek physician advice.  User  will require definitive testing to make this determination.

Severely increased risk of having sleep apnea– this means that based on the questions answered and the recording provided, it appears that the user is at high  risk of having  moderate to severe sleep apnea.   The user is strongly urged to seek physician advice.  User  will require definitive testing to determine the severity of sleep apnea.

Moderate to Severe sleep apnea increases the risk of a heart attack, stroke and early death.  It also contributes and exacerbates many other medical conditions including high blood pressure and diabetes. Sleep apnea causes excessive daytime sleepiness and fatigue, which can be reversed with appropriate treatment.
